This new decal sheet from Cutting Edge Modelworks includes markings for seven P-59 Airacomets in 1/48 scale.  The recommended kit for these decals is the Hobbycraft P-59 series.

The first Airacomet is a P-59B # 44-22633 "Reluctant Robot" in July 11,1946 was painted in ANA 508 International Orange (FS 12197).  This particular aircraft was used as a drone aircraft.  On the nose is artwork called "Reluctant Robot" which you can see in the image at the top of this review.

The second Airacomet is a XP-59A is in the first flight scheme flown by Robert Stanley Muroc on Oct 1, 1942.  This aircraft is Olive Drab on the topside and Neutral Grey ANA 508 on the underside.

The third Airacomet is a X P-59A # 42-108786 that was retrofitted with clipped wings and tail.  This aircraft is bare metal overall with a big black '3' on the side of the nose.  This aircraft has a Olive Drab antiglare panel in front of the cockpit.

The fourth Airacomet is a X P-59A # 42-108785 has text on the nose with the word "Superman" in yellow with yellow lightning bolts above and below the word Superman.  This aircraft is Olive Drab on the topside and Neutral Grey ANA 508 on the underside.

The fifth Airacomet is a P-59A # 44-22614.  This aircraft is bare metal overall with a big black '88' on the side of the nose.  This aircraft has a Olive Drab antiglare panel in front of the cockpit.

The sixth Airacomet is a P-59B # 44-22636 with 412th FG, Ontario Army Air Base.  This aircraft is bare metal overall with a big black '688' on the side of the nose.  This aircraft has a Olive Drab antiglare panel in front of the cockpit.  National insignias have red bars.

The seventh Airacomet is a YP-59A # 42-108777 that was retrofitted with clipped wings and tail.  It has text artwork on the nose with the word "Bell Aircraft Corp." in yellow script.  This aircraft is Olive Drab on the topside and Neutral Grey ANA 508 on the underside.

The decals are very clearly printed and the clear carrier film is trimmed very close to the crisply printed colored areas and in perfect register.

The instructions are clear and an extra page of text instruction is included with a small bit of info about 2 of the aircraft as well as helpful tips for decal application.

A very nice decal sheet and highly recommended for all modellers interested in early American jet aviation.

I would like to thank Cutting Edge Modelworks for providing me with this review sample.
