This is my first
submission to ARC. I have been greatly inspired by the contributors to this
fantastic site. For my first contribution I've sent photos of my latest
project. This is my Hasegawa A-4C. It is not very difficult to
create a beautiful scale replica of this significant aircraft from this truly
outstanding kit. My model represents a Skyhawk
flying off the USS Coral Sea (CVA 43) in the spring of 1965 during
operation " Flaming Dart One". Forming the largest U.S. Navy
strike effort since the Korean War. Aircraft from the USS Coral Sea and
USS Hancock (CVA 19) attacked military barracks and staging areas north of the
DMZ near Dong Hoi.

This model was built
straight from the box. I slightly modified the fuel tank to be carried on
the centerline station( drilled new holes) and hung Mk 83 1000 lb bombs from the
Hasegawa bomb set on the wing stations. The markings are from Eagle Strike
(I never liked Hasegawa decals). I used Model Master paints, which were
sprayed on using my
trusty old Badger 350 airbrush. Sealed with Future. I kept the weathering
to a minimum. I used Windsor and Newton water colors as a wash.
Followed by a dusting of brown and dark grey and pastels, then sealed with
Testors Dullcote. I am still working out my weathering technique. I
still haven't been completely satisfied with my results as of yet. ARC has
proven to be a wealth of useful information and techniques that I look forward
to trying some out on my next project.
