1/48 DML Fw-190 A-8

There was well over 300 hours invested in this project!!!

This is the DML reissue of the Tri-Master mold FW190 A-8 made into the A-5
of Major Herman Graf. The engine was an Engines 'n Things BMW 801 resin
engine. All the engine compartment pieces were scratchbuilt including the
firewall and engine mounts.

The guns were removed from the Verlinden resin base and placed into the scratchbuilt mounts.  The exhaust pipes were all individually made from drilled out solder. I used 2 Verlinden sets of P/E to get both of the engine hatch doors to open wide and say "ahhh". I cut the plastic oleos out of the landing gear and drilled both ends out with an appropriate sized chrome drill bit, I then cut that same drill bit into 2 pieces with the motortool cutoff wheel and used them for the oleos themselves.  The wing root gun bays were opened up and the Verlinden guns were installed along with the appropriate wiring.

The fuel filler door is open on the starboard side with the fuel cap hanging on it's lanyard.  The fuselage hatch door is open and the fuel tank, oxygen bottles, radio gear and control cables are inside the fuselage. Hard to see, but they're there!  The P/E Verlinden flaps were installed and I cut out the rudder and elevators and repositioned them in addition to the tail wheel. The decals were Superscale and the paint was from the now-defunct Floquil Military colors. Again, weathering is a wash of artist's oils/Turpenoid and pastel chalks along with a little bit of fingerprint dusting powder.
